Leaving our solid 4 walls for an RV life in freedom
Leaving Our Solid 4 Walls for an RV Life in Freedom
During the winter of 2023 to 2024, we lived in spacious homes on Mallorca. Think cozy fireplaces, soft beds, fully equipped kitchens, hot showers that lasted longer than necessary, and more than enough room for eight people to not trip over each other every two minutes.
It was beautiful. It was comfortable. It was safe. And now we're trading it all in—for an RV, again.
Why? Because comfort isn't the same as freedom.
The Beauty of Solid Walls
Let's be real: a big house has its perks, especially with a big family.
Here are a few things we genuinely loved:
•Space. Each child had a corner to call their own. Sometimes that meant peace. Other times, just a door to close.
•Stability. No setting up camp in the dark. No hunting for water hookups or fixing leaking hoses.
•Convenience. A washing machine, a big fridge, an oven that actually fits more than two muffins—yes, we appreciated it all.
•Winter warmth. Mallorcan winters are mild, but still. Having central heating and thick walls kept us cozy.
There's something nourishing about slowing down, grounding, nesting. And we're so grateful we gave ourselves that season. But as spring arrived, we felt it again.
That voice whispering, it's time to let go again!
Why We're Heading Back to the Road
There's something that calls to us when we're out in nature. Something that no house—no matter how beautiful—can quite match. We miss waking up to the sound of birds instead of neighbors. We miss breakfast outside, barefoot in the grass.
We miss watching the sunset from our "living room," which is actually a field, or a beach, or a mountain ridge.
We miss the closeness that naturally happens when eight people share a tiny space—not just physically, but emotionally. There's no hiding in an RV. There's only showing up. Being present. Figuring things out together.
And most of all, we miss the freedom.
RV Life Is Not Always Easy — But It's Alive
We know what we're getting into. RV life is not romantic 24/7.
We've dealt with broken water pumps, muddy campsites, power outages, and awkward parking situations. We've had to share one bathroom between eight people. We've run out of propane at 10 pm on a freezing night. But none of that outweighs the magic.
When we live in the RV, our days feel full of possibility.
Our rhythm slows down. We tune in more—to the land, to each other, to ourselves.
There's no rush. No pressure. No need to keep up with anything except the seasons.
Home Is Where We Park It
Right now, we're ready for less square footage and more sky.
Less structure, more spontaneity. Less stuff, more stars. Our living room is once again the garden, the forest, the open field. Our office is a folding table under the trees. Our classroom is the world. We're not running away from anything. We're simply choosing this life, again—with clearer eyes, more gratitude, and deeper trust.
The Gift of Choosing Again and Again
What we love most about this journey is that we're not tied to one version of life. Sometimes it's a house. Sometimes it's an RV. Sometimes it's a tent on a beach.
But always, it's about being together, being free, and being in alignment with what we truly value.
Right now, that means waking up in different places. Letting the road surprise us.
And knowing we're home, wherever we go.
We love it. Love and light to you!
